New Life Blooms in the Garden

As promised, I have session previews to post every day this week. :)

In spite of a very rainy, dreary day the weather cooperated during this session and we were able to use their amazing backyard as a beautiful backdrop -- not that we needed any help in the beauty department. Look how beautiful this client is. :)

Beautiful Life

I had the pleasure of photographing these new parents last weekend. Despite the threatening weather, we had some beautiful light during most of the session. This baby has some beautiful parents. :)

Already dreaming of Santa...

I know it seems ridiculous, when its 95 degrees outside and we are thick in the middle of the afternoon rainy season to think about the holidays, but when you are a children's and family portrait photographer, you can't be too prepared. The season will be here before we know it!

So, I wanted to give everyone a heads up now of a couple of things related to the holidays:

Holiday Cards: I will be offering designed holiday cards this year. In fact, I'm in the process of finalizing the designs. My cards are 5x7", double sided press printed cards. Its your choice of photos on the front AND the back. Plus, you can customize the greeting. As always, the cards come in stamped envelopes, for your convenience. Prices are $75 for a set of 25 cards.

Holiday Card Mini Sessions: Last year I offered mini sessions during the holidays, which gave you a mini photo session at a specific location and a package of cards for one low price. I will be offering appointments to these mini sessions again this year. I'm finalizing locations and dates, but I can tell you there will be a couple of dates in October and early November. Now, here's the catch: I will be opening up the dates for these mini sessions to my current clients first. Any available dates will then be open to anyone else. If you are interested in being notified of these dates as soon as they are announced, please send me an email to karenleslie@mac.com. I will be putting an email list together and as soon as I have the dates finalized, I will let you know. Also, watch this online newsletter for more information.

Holiday Order Deadlines: Photographs make perfect holiday gifts for grandparents, aunts and uncles. Unfortunately, however, photographs do not make good last minute holiday gifts. There will be a deadline for all orders requested by the holidays. That deadline will be Tuesday, November 27th.

Gift Certificates: Don't know what to get your family or friends for the holidays? A gift certificate is a perfect gift! Gift certificates come in any denomination starting at $50 and can be used toward a session fee, or products. Gift certificates also make great group gifts for a baby shower!

Family Session at Loch Haven Park

The best way to beat the heat for a summer photo session is to start early in the morning. Not only is it cooler (yay!), but the light is just beautiful (yay!) Look at this beautiful family.

Featured Session

I often get the question: What kind of photos will I get in my session? My answer is that it depends on the goals of the session, that you and I will talk about in advance. But, in general, you'll get a combination of individual and group portraits and lifestyle shots -- basically it will be your life, captured.

I'm going to start posting a slideshow from an entire session. In this particular session, my client asked for a wide variety of shots -- from individuals of her son ... to family portraits ... to fun, beach photos. We had a fantastic evening at the beach and got a great collection for them to choose from.

This slideshow is an example of what you get with your session -- uploaded to the web and available to you for a few weeks after your session.

Sit back, make sure your computer speakers are on ... and enjoy.

The Life of a Photographer's Dog

They are a great help when you want to test out new lenses, lighting situations, backdrops, new processing techniques, etc.

Of course, there is always pay in the form of yummy treats. :)

Summer Morning at Rollins College

I recently had a session with two adorable little girls. We spent a Saturday summer morning playing at Rollins College. It's a fantastic location for a session!
